How to sanitize Elvie Nipple Cushions before first use
Before using your Elvie Nipple Cushions for the first time, you should clean and sanitize them by following these steps:
Rinse in cold, clear water.
Wash in warm water using mild dishwashing soap.
Rinse again with cold, clear water for 10 to 15 seconds.
Sanitize in boiling water for five minutes. Cushions are also suitable for microwave, steam or cold water sanitization. We do not recommend microwaving or steam sanitizing for more than five minutes.
Place on a clean surface and air dry completely before use.
NOTE: Do not place your Elvie Nipple Cushions directly into the kitchen sink for rinsing or washing. Use a dedicated wash basin.
How to fit Elvie Nipple Cushions into your breast pump
Elvie Nipple Cushions fit into a size 24mm shield on either Elvie Pump or Elvie Stride. Simply push the cushion into the nipple tunnel, taking care not to over-insert the cushion. The cushion should not cover any part of the hole in the breast shield where your milk drains down into the bottle.
How to fit Elvie Nipple Cushions onto your breast
Practice aligning your breast into the nipple cushion by bending over and holding your breast from below, then direct your nipple straight into the cushion’s nipple tunnel.
Make sure your nipple is centered in the tunnel - you don’t want it pointing to the left, right, upwards or downwards. You can practice alignment using a mirror to begin with. Check that you can see the whole of the end of your nipple in the reflection.
How to use Elvie Nipple Cushions
Elvie Nipple Cushions provide extra comfort and an enhanced fit when using either Elvie Pump or Elvie Stride. To use the Nipple Cushions when pumping, simply follow these steps:
Push the cushion into the nipple tunnel of your breast pump, being careful not to over-insert the cushion.
Direct your nipple into the cushion’s nipple tunnel, making sure your nipple is centered in the tunnel.
Begin your pumping session.
